Family Friends, a non-profit, non-sectarian, 100% volunteer-run organization, founded in 1984, sponsors playgroups, social activities, and more for families with young children. We offer our members enjoyable activities and the opportunity to connect with other families in Central New Jersey. Family Friends offers programs that benefit the entire family, not just its smallest members. Our community includes families where parents work outside the home as well as families where one parent has chosen to stay at home.
Members commit to volunteering to help our organization thrive. From September through May, our weekly parent-child playgroups are held at
St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 17 Oak Avenue in Metuchen. Activities at our Monday playgroup include free play, crafts, and snack time. Our Wednesday sessions generally include free play and an organized activity like sing-a-longs, dance, school-yard games, and parachute play. The playgroups are geared for babies through pre-school aged children. Parents enjoy our playgroups as much as the kids, as they can enjoy some adult conversation while their kids play. In the summer, we meet at local parks and take day trips to attractions in the area. We also sponsor holiday parties, picnics, and events for parents, such as a book discussion group, and parents’ night out. Since Family Friends is an all-volunteer-run organization, you may even start your own activity!
